WHAT YOU GET

The workbook — 9 steps, over 100 pages

  • God made everything perfect.
  • Sin and Death enters the world.
  • God promises a Rescuer to save us.
  • Jesus is born. Miracle Birth.
  • Jesus' perfect life and mission.
  • Jesus, God's perfect Lamb, pays for our sins.
  • Jesus dies, beats death, and comes back to life.
  • Jesus sends the promised Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus is coming back!

Each step includes a Big Idea, a Bible story, a Popcorn story, two memory verses, a coloring page, a word search, a crossword, questions that make kids think, and a Prayer Spot where children write their own prayer.

Plus bonus sections: Why Do We Believe the Gospel Is True? and What Is Prayer? Let's Talk to God.

Answer keys for every puzzle.

The Leader's Guide — 20 pages - Nine steps are plans built on the same six-part rhythm, timed to 35–45 minutes. Every step tells you what you're really teaching, how to open the class, what to watch for in the kid's emotions and questions, and what to send home.

It also tells your volunteers how to handle the hard moments — the child who gets frightened by the crucifixion, the child who asks about a grandparent who died, and how to respond when a child wants to pray to follow Jesus without ever pressuring them into it. Hand it to a nervous first-time volunteer and they'll be fine.

Also included: parent letter to send home, printable Certificate of Completion, and a five-day VBS pacing chart.

WHO WROTE IT

April Newton is a Kids Church Pastor. She wrote this workbook for the children she teaches every week, and a Kids' Church Advisory Committee at Gateway Church in Richmond, Indiana that read every draft, was an art critique, ask the hard questions and told her what they think — even when it stung.

This wasn't written by a committee at a publishing house. It was written in a children's ministry room and fixed by the kids who sat in it.

HONEST ABOUT THE CROSS of CHRIST.

GENTLE WITH LITTLE HEARTS.

This workbook doesn't skip the hard parts. Kids learn that sin is real, that it cost a life, and that Jesus died. It also never leaves them there — every session that raises something heavy resolves it before the children go home, and the Leader's Guide tells you exactly how.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LICENSE

Can I make copies for my whole class? With the Church & Classroom Edition, yes — unlimited copies for every child at your location, every year, no additional fee.

Can I use it again next year? Yes. Buy once, teach forever.

Can I share the file with another church? Please don't — but send them here and we'll take care of them. Every license sold funds the free story videos we publish for families who can't buy anything at all.

What if our budget genuinely can't cover it? Write to us. We have never turned down a church that asked.

Can I print at a copy shop? Yes. Bring the file and show them the license page — it's your written permission to have copies made.

Do I need color? No. The coloring pages, word searches, and crosswords are designed to print beautifully in black and white. Kids supply the color.

OPTIONAL — EMAIL SIGNUP

Teaching this in the fall? We send occasional notes to children's ministry leaders — new free sessions, seasonal printables, and what other churches are doing with it. No more than once a month.
