Popcorn's adventures continue when a lively goat named Salty comes to share the valley. Salty is fast, funny, and full of energy. Popcorn is shy and quiet, and he would rather be left alone. When a playful trick goes too far, Popcorn says something he cannot take back, and Salty walks away with his feelings hurt.
With the Good Shepherd's gentle guidance, and with Goodness and Mercy watching over the flock, Popcorn discovers that saying sorry takes more courage than running fast, and that a friend who is nothing like you may be exactly the friend you need.
Inspired by Psalm 23, this warm and funny story teaches children about forgiveness, apologizing, and making room for those who are different from us.
Book #4
A story of learning to be thankful for the special gifts God has given us, and to celebrate the gifts He has given others.
Inspired by 1 Peter 4:10
Popcorn Meets Cheddar
What happens when Popcorn grows jealous of Cheddar's strong pull? He hitches up to prove himself, though the apple cart is full. Who saves the runaway wagon as it races toward the pond? The Good Shepherd shows Popcorn the gift he had all along.
It is harvest time in the valley, and the Good Shepherd has a helper. Cheddar the donkey pulls the wooden cart loaded with apples, and everyone thanks him for his strength. Everyone but Popcorn, who watches from beneath the tree and wonders why nobody ever thanks a little lamb.
Before the rooster crows the next morning, Popcorn slips into the harness to prove he is just as strong. But the cart rolls backward down the hill, and suddenly Popcorn, Caramel, Salty, and a flurry of squawking hens are tumbling toward the pond with no way to stop.
When Cheddar comes galloping to the rescue and Goodness and Mercy dig the friends out of the haystack, the Good Shepherd gathers everyone close and reminds them that God gives every creature a gift of its own. Cheddar's gift is strength. And Popcorn's soft wool becomes the sweaters, scarves, and mittens that keep children warm all across the land.
Inspired by 1 Peter 4:10, this funny and heartfelt story teaches children about jealousy, thankfulness, and the special gift God has given each of us.
